Friends of the Library Speaker Series Presents: Avalanche Safety with Doug Latimer
Doug Latimer will be joining us on Thursday, November 24th to talk about avalanche safety and his interactive eBook Avalanche! The Guide's Guide to Safer Travel in the Mountains.
Doug Latimer is a ski guide with more than three decades experience in the avalanche industry. He has worked as the lead guide and manager for a back-country lodge, taught for a decade at the University of Calgary Outdoor Centre, and currently is the lead winter guide for the Alpine Club of Canada.
By combining these skills, Doug has produced the world's first interactive multimedia eBook on avalanche safety: "Avalanche! The Guide's Guide to Safer Travel in the Mountains". The eBook is designed for recreational back-country users, with a focus on presenting the current best practices for safe winter travel in the mountains.
This event will take place on Thursday, November 24th from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the Canmore Public Library Program Room.
