Air-Dry Clay Flower Dish Adult Activity Kit

Clay is considered to be the oldest ceramic material, with the oldest ceramic shards found dating back to 14,000 BC.

Prehistoric humans used the raw clay from the earth to create many vessels and other items, and they also created the first kilns to fire and harden the clay. Now, it is a much easier process with industrialization, but at its core, clay remains a material that is used to create. From fine bone china to Play-Doh, clay is an integral part of humanity, and is something that can connect different times and cultures.

The air-dry clay in this kit is made from baking soda, cornstarch, and water. It hardens as it dries - no need for the oven*, just time! Learn how to not only make the clay yourself, but also how to create a lovely little flower dish - and anything else you can imagine!

*This activity kit does require the use of a stove to heat the clay mixture. By signing up for this kit you agree to the inherent risks and responsibilities that come with the safe operation of a stove.

The instructions and materials needed to make air-dry clay, and a flower dish, are all included in this kit from the Canmore Public Library.
