In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge the traditional Treaty 7 Territory, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy Nations of Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and our neighbours, the Îethka Stoney Nakoda Nation consisting of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney Bands. This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.
At the Canmore Public Library we are proud to hold space for the Indigenous voices of these Nations as an act of reconciliation that is meant to honour and raise awareness for our neighbours.
We listen with gratitude to the ancestral stories of the land we share. We recognize our shared responsibility going forward on this journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
