Writing Mountain Lives:
An Exploration of Our Mountain World hosted by Nikki Tate.

Local authors Geoff Powter and Barry Blanchard will be joining us for an evening of biography and memoir! These two local authors will discuss their newly released books "Survival is Not Assured" and the second volume of "The Calling".

Geoff Powter, author of "Survival is not Assured",  will be discussing the remarkable life of Jim Donini, legend of American alpine climbing — and chatting about the challenges of bringing that story to the page. Fun fact: this book was written by Powter right here in the Canmore Library!

Barry Blanchard will be discussing the second volume of his book "The Calling: A Life Rocked by Mountains." This is the story of the culture of climbing in the days of punk rock, spurred on by the rhythm of adrenaline and the arrogance of youth. It is also a portrait of the power of the mountains to lift us physically, emotionally and intellectually.

This author event will take place on Tuesday, June 18th from 6:30 - 8:00pm in the Friends Program Room.

Books will be available to sell and sign at this event.
