Join us for our Full Moon Swaps at the Canmore Public Library!

Our next swap will be the Clothing Swap-O-Rama coming up September 12-14.

WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! We are dedicated to enhancing our swap events and would love to hear your thoughts. Whether you've attended our monthly Full Moon Swaps or the bi-annual Clothing Swap-O-Ramas, or if you haven't yet participated, your feedback is crucial. To help us shape future swaps, please complete the survey found here.

The Clothing Swap-O-Rama is being held September 12-14. Learn more here!

Our Full Moon Swaps will be held monthly, on or around the full moon. Each swap will have a theme connected to the name of the full moon that month, for example the Flower Moon or the Wolf Moon. We encourage community members to bring gently used items they no longer need or want to the CPL the day of the swap as a donation. Items will be displayed on tables and are available for anyone to take home with them, so please be sure the items you bring are items you are prepared to give away. Everything is FREE and everyone is welcome! You do not need to donate items in order to attend or take items home.

We hope these swaps will encourage community connection and help keep usable items from piling up in a landfill! Any items leftover at the end of the swap will be donated to a charity of our choice.   See you then!

 Upcoming Swaps:

March - No Full Moon Swap, visit us for the Friends Spring Book Sale!

April - No Full Moon Swap, join us at our massive clothing Swap-O-Rama!

Celebrate the Blue Moon with a community swap of school supplies on August 16 & 17, 2024!

This year, the full moon in August is also referred to as a Blue Moon as it is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons, according to NASA.

So this month, we want to help you beat the back-to-school blues with a community swap of school supplies!

Perhaps you have unwanted supplies such as pens, pencils, loose leaf, duo tangs, binders, pencil cases, calculators, scissors, markers and notebooks that you would like to pass on to someone else.

Clothing, Backpacks, lunch bags, reusable water bottles, kids shoes... anything that can help you and your kids (or teens, or adults!) get ready for back to school is perfect for the Blue Moon Swap!

With that in mind, our July Full Moon Swap will be a celebration of new-to-you items with a community swap open to all kinds of gently used items. Clothing, kitchen supplies, kids toys, sporting goods, hiking gear and everything in between!

Everything is FREE and everyone is welcome. You do not need to donate to the swap in order to take items home with you.

Join us for the Hunger Moon Swap at the Canmore Public Library!

The February full moon is also known as the Hunger Moon. With February typically bringing the most snow, it made hunting difficult and food could be hard to come by.

With that in mind, our February Full Moon Swap is a community swap for all things food, kitchen, and pantry related!

This is the perfect time to clean out your pantry and pass along any non-perishable food items that have just been collecting dust! Perhaps you have kettles, coffee pots, or baking sheets & cooking pans you no longer use or need.

Unwanted cookbooks, small appliances, bamboo skewers, can openers, aprons, kitchen gadgets that have lost their lustre - all this and more are perfect for the Hunger Moon Swap! (Please no large appliances, BBQ's, or expired food items).

Winter clothing will also be accepted at this month's Full Moon Swap!

We've added extra hours! The February Full Moon Swap will take place in the Friends of the Library Program Room on Friday, February 23rd from 5:00 - 7:00pm, and will continue on Saturday, February 24th from 10am - 2pm. If you have items to donate, they can be brought to the Library during the swap hours on Friday and Saturday!

The January full moon is also known as the Wolf Moon. With that in mind, our January Full Moon Swap is a community swap for pets and their people! (You do not need to have a pet to attend the swap!)

For the pets...

Is your cat tired of all their toys? Has your dog outgrown their collar, coat, or crate? Perhaps you have unused pet beds, pet boots, food bowls, or leashes lying around. Bring them to the Wolf Moon Swap!  (Alternatively, if you need those items - come to the Wolf Moon Swap!)

For the people...

Let's keep getting winter ready with another community swap of winter items! This could include winter gear like jackets, snow pants, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, and boots.

Perhaps you have snow sport gear your no longer need like skates, sleds, skis etc.

Other winter items could include mugs for hot cocoa, car scrapers, shovels, heaters, hand warmers and more!
