Join us for our Full Moon Swaps at the Canmore Public Library!

Our next swap will be the Frost Moon Swap coming up on November 25th.

For this month's swap we've partnered with The Homelessness Society of the Bow Valley to help get our community ready for winter!

The Canmore Library and the Homelessness Society of the Bow Valley have come together to celebrate the Frost Moon with a community swap of winter items!

The November full moon is also known as the Frost Moon due to the tendency for frosty weather this time of year. In the spirit of the Frost Moon, let's get cold-weather ready at our November Full Moon Swap!

A community swap of all things wintry could included winter gear like jackets, snow pants, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, and boots.

Perhaps you have snow sport gear your no longer need like skates, sleds, skis etc.

Other winter items could include mugs for hot cocoa, car scrapers, shovels, heaters, and more!

The swap will take place in the Friends of the Library Program Room at the CPL.

(Don't forget, everything is FREE and everyone is welcome! You do not need to donate items in order to attend or take items home. If you have gently used items to donate, please bring them to the CPL the day of the swap.)

Our Full Moon Swaps will be held monthly, on or around the full moon. Each swap will have a theme connected to the name of the full moon that month, for example the Flower Moon or the Wolf Moon. We encourage community members to bring gently used items they no longer need or want to the CPL the day of the swap as a donation. Items will be displayed on tables and are available for anyone to take home with them, so please be sure the items you bring are items you are prepared to give away. Everything is FREE and everyone is welcome! You do not need to donate items in order to attend or take items home.

We hope these swaps will encourage community connection and help keep usable items from piling up in a landfill! Any items leftover at the end of the swap will be donated to a charity of our choice.   See you then!

 Upcoming Swaps:

Past Swaps:

Drop off anyone and everyone's clean, gently loved clothing, shoes, and accessories at the Canmore Library between September 29th - October 6th.

The swap will take place on:

October 6th, 5pm to 7pm: early entry for clothing donors with tickets.

October 7th, 10am to 2pm: general public admission.

All sizes, genders, and ages welcomed and encouraged. With spooky season upon us, consider swapping Halloween costumes too! Please no household wares, toys, or other non-clothing items.

The next Full Moon Swap is coming up on Saturday, August 26th, 2023 from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Celebrate the Blue Moon with a community swap of school supplies!

This will be the second full moon in August, which is why we call it a Blue Moon! The term Blue Moon is most commonly used when we have two full Moons in a single month.

So this month, we want to help you beat the back-to-school blues with a community swap of school supplies!

Perhaps you have unwanted supplies such as pens, pencils, loose leaf, duo tangs, binders, pencil cases, and notebooks that you would like to pass on to someone else.

Backpacks, lunch bags, reusable water bottles, kids sneakers for indoor shoes... anything that can help get your kids ready for back to school is welcome at the Blue Moon Swap!

(Don't forget, everything is FREE and everyone is welcome! You do not need to donate items in order to attend or take items home.)

Join us for our Full Moon Swaps at the Canmore Public Library! The next Full Moon Swap is coming up on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Celebrate the Super Moon with a community super-swap of kid's stuff!

July's full moon is a Super Moon. NASA explains that "a super moon occurs when the Moon’s orbit is closest to Earth at the same time the Moon is full." They appear larger and brighter than regular full moons because of this closeness.

Inspired by this special kind of full moon, the July Full Moon Swap will be open to all kinds of gently used children's items. It's the perfect time to clear out the outgrown clothing and sports gear, toys that have lost their appeal, forgotten stuffed animals, and picture books that are collecting dust and swap them for some shiny new-to-you items.

So gather your gently used children's items and join us in celebrating the Super Moon at our July Full Moon Swap!

(Don't forget, everything is FREE and everyone is welcome! You do not need to donate items in order to attend or take items home.)

Celebrate the Strawberry Moon with a community swap of all things summery!

The full moon in June is also referred to as the Strawberry Moon. It gets this name from the wild strawberries that ripen during early summer, ready to be gathered.

With that in mind, our Strawberry Full Moon Swap will be a community swap of all things summery! Think summer clothing, hats, sneakers and sandals. Items to be enjoyed outdoors such as yard games, scooters, frisbees and more. Summer items can include things for your garden, beach towels, water toys, bug spray, sunblock, hiking gear, etc. The possibilities are endless at the June Full Moon Swap!

May's full moon is also known as the Flower Moon. Therefore, our May Full Moon Swap will be of all things floral and gardening (think flowers, plants, seeds, flower pots, gardening items, clothes / toys / housewares / miscellaneous items with flowers etc). So gather your unwanted gently used items in the flower family and join us in celebrating the Flower Moon at our next Full Moon Swap!
