Groovy Record Bowls Adult Activity Kit

Music has been a staple of humanity since the dawn of time, however recording and keeping it is something that is fairly new. The first sound recording was done by Thomas Edison in 1877 with his invention of the Phonograph. After this, it took almost 100 years until the vinyl record was made and became widespread as something commercially available to be enjoyed in people’s homes. This ended in the 1950’s when Columbia Records created the LP or "Long Play" vinyl record that is the traditional 12" records that are being used in this kit.

The invention of the LP record truly revolutionized the music industry and were wildly popular in the 1950's through the 1960's. Popularity started to decline in the late 70's to early 80s with the invention of 8track tapes, and especially with the Walkman. Popularity continued to decline with other music devices like CDs, iPods, and now streaming services. However, in 2008 there was a jump in record sales - an increase of 89% worldwide. This trend continued, and their popularity has reemerged in the present day with many contemporary artists providing a vinyl option for their albums. While the vinyl record's sound quality isn't the best, it is preferred by many.

And now, you will be melting donated and unused records into groovy bowls, keeping their life cycle going, past the music.

Each kit includes all the materials needed to create your very own Groovy Vinyl Record Bowl.
